The gap between Google Play and the App Store appears to be closing, with the Android store showing an aggregated daily revenue growth of 43 per cent between August and November, trouncing that of its iOS counterpart, who registered 21 per cent growth.
While the growth figures certainly indicate that Android is hot on the heels of its iOS rival, there is still a significant distance between the two. On an average day in November, App Store revenue topped $15 million, as opposed to just $3.5 million for Google Play.
In terms of market revenue, the US sits atop the pile, followed by Japan, the UK and Australia, while the fastest growing markets for the iPhone are Japan (up 138 per cent), China (118 per cent) and Russia (96 per cent), while Android saw strong gains in Korea (94 per cent), Japan (60 per cent) and France (46 per cent).
