Google has announced the launch of Android Studio, a new developer suite introduced at it IO dev conference.
Android Studio is designed to offer developers a look at how their apps will look across a variety of layouts and configurations, meaning that they can see how their apps will work on tablets, smartphones and a host of other platforms.
Commenting on Android Studio, Hugo Barra, vice president of Android product management, stated: “This is a fully featured IDE right from the get go.”
Google also announced that it will be improving its developer console, adding a number of features aimed at enabling developers to increase revenue from Android apps.
One such improvement is the addition of a section that offers advice on development and optimisation, while an app translation service will enable developers to attain professional translations via the developer console.
Meanwhile, a referral-tracking feature has been added, along with new revenue display graphs.
The improved developer console will also offer beta testing and staged rollouts, allowing developers to try out test versions of their apps before releasing them to the public.
