That's 300,000 more per day than in July.
What a week this is turning out to be for the smartphone space. Two new Nokia Win8 devices, more Razrs, a big splurge from Amazon and - in the middle of it all - a reminder from Google of the ongoing acceleration in the Android platform.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt revealed the 1.3m stat at a Motorola event and added that 70,000 of the activations are tablets.
There are now 480m Android devices in use.
The activations figure just keeps on rising, up from 700,000 a day in December 2011, 900,000 a day in June and 1m a day in July.
In the past these numbers have been disputed by Apple, which has claimed that Google has included OS updates as 'new' activations. This has been denied by Google.
