The search engine giant has sent out press invites to a mystery Android event in New York.
The invite states ‘The playground is open’, and following recent speculation, many are expecting to see Google showcase a new Nexus smartphone.
As well as a Nexus handset, reports claim that HTC has been working on a Nexus 5 phablet and Sony and Samsung have Google-branded devices in the works. There is also talk of a 32GB version of the Google Nexus 7 tablet and a 10-inch Nexus 10. So we think it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing a few devices making an appearance at the event.
Being an ‘Android’ event, it is highly likely that Google will bring us news on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates. It’s unlikely that we’ll see 5.0 Key Lime Pie at the event, being so soon after the release of the Nexus 7, which introduced 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Whatever happens, you can find out in real time by watching the live stream at YouTube.com/Android. The event takes place at 10am ET (3pm UK time).
