It's been a big weekend for handhelds. Sony's PSP launched in Japan. Nintendo's DS continues to sell like sex. And Tiger Telematics' Gizmondo announces another feature to add to its already Swiss Army Knife-esque multifunctionality.[br]This time it's email. Using GPRS (General Packet Radio Service - a overly complicated acronym that essentially means you can chuck little packages of information around the world via wireless telephone networks) technology, you'll be able to access your POP3/IMAP email (you'll have to get one of these specific types of email accounts, but that's easy) anywhere in the world - with attachments - thanks to tri-band coverage.[br][br]Phew. So, basically, you can send and receive emails on your Gizmondo whether you're in Bolton or Bangkok. [br][br]This cracking new feature nestles alongside Gizmondo's wireless text and picture messenging, GPS, digital camera, and multimedia playback features. Oh, and it plays games too.[br][br]Write Gizmondo off if you want, but you can't deny the other handheld has a pretty amazing list of features.[br][br]While you can pre-order a unit on the official website, no official release date has been set for Gizmondo. Tiger are still promising it'll be widely available in the UK before the end of the year, with Europe and the US following first quarter 2005.
