Leaked pictures of plastic packaging marked with iPhone 5C.
The picture shows a container of plastic boxes with 'iPhone 5C' branded down the side, as shown on Chinese website WeiPhone - could this be the packaging for the new budget iPhone? Or is it just a container of plastic boxes with 'iPhone 5C' branded down the side!
It has already been revealed that Apple indicated the release of a budget version of its latest iPhone, and that it could be available in a variety of colours, possibly indicating what the 'C' stands for in the name.
Previously Apple has stuck to releasing one device per year, however this could mark a change in strategy as the budget iPhone 5C is to be released around the same time as the new iPhone.
The budget version is rumoured to be made of cheaper materials such as plastic, instead of the pricey metal and glass that its posher peers are made out of, and said to be priced at around $99. The next iPhone (5S? 6?) will no doubt be the usual slight upgrade as previous models and will most certainly create the same stir as always.
However with the addition of the cheaper version being introduced into it's line up, Apple could be opening itself up to a whole new market - giving its slowing sales a boost to combat Samsung's increasing popularity and Google Androids domination of the market as a whole.
