Foxconn will use robots to help assemble Apple’s next flagship smartphone.
Named ‘Foxbots’, each robot will be able to put together around 30,000 devices.
Apple will be the first company to have its products assembled by the Foxbots, which are currently undergoing their final testing phase.
Costing between $20,000 and $25,000 to make, Foxconn plans to install 10,000 robots in its factories.
While the news of the Foxbots might worry the manufacturer's human employees, it seems Foxconn is on a hiring spree. The firm recruited over 100,000 people in mainland China last month, all of which are expected to be working on the newest products by Apple.
The iPhone 6 is expected to be unveiled in September or October and is rumoured to feature a 10MP camera, 4.7-inch display, NFC technology, 1600 x 900 resolution and sensors foratmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity.
It is also reported that Apple will launch a larger smartphone alongside the iPhone 6. This one is rumoured to come with a 5.6-inch display.
