Is the next generation of smartphone the previous generation of phone - Or has it just gone completely mad?
The electronics company seems to be suffering from a case of nostalgia, as it unveils the new Galaxy Golden smartphone cross retro flip-phone. Maybe the technological jump forward with the announcement of Samsung's smartwatch has spurred it on to take a few steps back, develop something a little more modest, and admire what it has achieved.
The device - which follows the release of the Samsung developed Chinese flip-phone, Hennessy - runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and contains two back-to-back 3.7-inch screens. This allows the user to access the smartphone screen when the phone is open and closed.
The software differs from that of the actual Galaxy range, with a 1.7GHz processor, 8-megapixel camera and LTE support.
Samsung has currently only released the Galaxy Golden in South Korea, selling at 790,000 won - and it unfortunately looks as though that is where it will be staying. Pity, it would be nice to take a step down mobile-memory-lane.
