59p may not sound a lot when compared to a full priced console game, but when development costs are low and games are selling in their hundreds of thousands, it still equals a lot of money.
FireMintGames has released some interesting stats about its leading iPhone and iPod Touch title Flight Control, which reveal that since its release on March 6th the game has sold over 700,000 copies. That amounts to over £400,000 in revenue.
More detailed stats are available for the period of March 6th to April 27th, where 587,485 copies were downloaded. At its peak the game sold 35,000 on one day (March 28th).
The USA has been the biggest purchaser of the game, accounting for 57 per cent of all sales, with the UK coming in second place with 96,978 copies purchased – 17 per cent of total sales.
