Remember that story about the Samsung Galaxy SIII that blew up? Well, ignore it - an investigation by Samsung has proved that it didn't happen.
The phone's owner had originally claimed on a forum that white flames shot out of the device while he was driving, damaging his car and destroying the phone. Samsung, understandably concerned, vowed to investigate, and investigate they did.
After bringing in Fire Investigations UK (FIUK) it seems that the fire was not caused by the device itself, but by an "external energy." Investigator Peter Mansi wrote: "The heat damage does not appear to have been from an external heat flux, such as a naked flame
The investigation also stated: "The only way it was possible to produce [the] damage...was to place the device or component parts within a domestic microwave."
