Online marketplace predicts $5bn in sales via mobile for 2011.
The e-retailer's payment platform PayPal experienced its largest ever Cyber Monday for mobile payments with a six-fold growth to hit 552 per cent.
With results like that, it's no surprise eBay feels confident about its mobile payments reaching $5 billion by the end of the year.
In 2010, worldwide eBay sales via mobile notched up $2 billion in sales, which more than triples the $600 million made in 2009.
eBay has said more than one million item listings are made each week through the mobile platform. That sounds reasonable, given that the firm has had it's app downloaded over 50 million times globally.
600,000 new eBay customers made their first buy via an app during the first half of the year, having never used the site before demonstrating the vast adoption of the service.
