EA has clarified Frank Gibeau's quote that implied Apple paid the publisher "truckloads of money" to hold off on launching Plants vs Zombies 2 on Android.
The games publisher says that the quote was "taken out of context" and caused an "unfortunate misunderstanding".
In a statement sent to PCR, an EA spokesperson said: "A comment from an internal meeting taken out of context has created an unfortunate misunderstanding. Reports of a paid relationship between Apple and EA are factually inaccurate, and we apologise for any confusion.”
Plants vs Zombies 2 is available on Apple iOS devices and will launch on Android at a later date. It has been downloaded more than 25 million times to date.
