BT: 'Mobile-phobia' is contaminating the UK

Just six per cent of Brit device users feel happy making calls abroad.
BT says operators should be concerned about a growing condition dubbed 'mobile-phobia,' which has consumed 93 per cent of Brits, rendering them to significantly reduce their usual mobile phone use when abroad.
79 per cent say they're worried about expensive fees and have no idea how much they'll be charged, while 62 per cent go 'cold turkey' and uses phones sparingly or not at all, and one-fith leaves their mobiles at home.
Furthermore, 57 per cent of people only answer calls that can't be postponed and two-thirds only reply to important texts, although 23 per cent never answer calls and 18 per cent never respond to texts.
While 58 per cent of Brits want to keep in touch with friends and family at home, 62 per cent use email or SMS, and just six per cent feel comfortable making calls daily.
Pete Oliver, commercial director of BT’s consumer division, said: "We know how important it is to stay in touch when you’re away from home – especially when you’re abroad. Our new SmartTalkapp allows customers to take their calling plan with them, so they can continue to save money away from home."
