It's just one more sign that the iPhone 5 is right around the corner.
Apple's Reuse and Recycle service is a great way to get some money back when upgrading to a new device, and is a good indicator of when a new product is coming.
So, it's little surprise that the iPhone 4S appearing as a recycle option on the Apple site has given the iPhone 5 rumour mill a fresh shot of adrenaline.
The recycling offer strongly suggests Apple is going to announce its new handset soon, and the much-touted September 12 launch date seems increasingly likely.
If users want to trade in their 4S, the amount of cash you get depends on the exact specs and the condition of the handset. The maximum available is $345 for a 64GB iPhone 4S in very good condition with a battery that fully charges and power cord included.
A more common 16GB phone will still reach $285 if it’s in great condition.
