But the OS still dominates the market with a huge 56 per cent.
Last week, Strategy Analytics said the global smartphone shipment growth had slowed to 32 per cent in Q2, the weakest rate since Q3 2009.
Now, it reveals that the biggest OS in the space, Android, is also decelerating – at least in the US.
Overall US smartphone market growth slowed by five per cent, resulting in Android's Q2 shipments slipping by four per cent year-on-year.
That said, the OS still has a 56 per cent market share, and accounted for 13.4m of the total 23.8m devices moved in the quarter.
