Only two per cent between the two smartphone platforms.
New stats from Berlin-based ad network madvertise show just how narrow the gap is between Android and iOS across the major European territories.
The firm evaluated its network of six billion monthly page impressions to estimate smartphone OS shares across five of the biggest countries in Europe - UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and France.
It says iOS had a 30 per cent market share at the end of 2011, and has extended this to 32.79 per cent in Q2 2012.
But Android, which was six per cent behind in December, is now two per cent behind with a 31.43 per cent market share.
