Google is planning to release Android 5.0 this year, complete with support for low-end smartphones. Vr-zone.com reports that the next iteration of the Android mobile operating system, 5.0 key Lime Pie, will arrive in late October.
According to anonymous sources, 5.0 will be an optimised OS for all devices and including those with as little as 512BM of RAM.
This October marks the fifth anniversary of Android, and what with the Motorola X smartphone expected to launch around the same time, it seems the ideal moment to unveil the fifth iteration of the Android OS.
According to the report, Google will release a 4.3 Jelly Bean update first in late August before the Key Lime Pie is announced, which will have support for low-energy Bluetooth connectivity.
