When Apple announced that AirPlay would be a new feature included in the iOS 4.2 update, many people were eager for its release. However, some were disappointed to learn that only first party apps would be able to stream video. Strangely, Safari is not supported, so internet streaming is not yet possible. AirPlay is capable of streaming video from any app, but Apple chose not to enable it. Fortunately, there’s a jailbreak for that.
Thanks to Erica Sadun over at TUAW, video can now be streamed from any jailbroken iOS 4.2 device using the AirVideoEnabler patch. A single line of code was all that was necessary to enable this feature. With the patch installed, any app can stream video to an Apple TV. For now, the patch is free through Cydia
