In the run up to its 10 billionth App Store download, Apple has revealed charts listing the all-time most-downloaded software from its iOS service.

In the US, games comprise nine of the top ten paid apps, with this dropping to 8/10 in the UK. The recently contentious Doodle Jump is the most downloaded paid app in the US, though it is overtaken by Angry Birds in the UK store.

Also placing highly in both charts are Tap Tap Revenge 3, Pocket God, Flight Control, Bejewelled Blitz and Traffic Rush.

Gamers are far less prevalent in the free iPhone apps chart, with Paper Toss the only appearance in the top ten.

Paid iPad apps include four games in the top ten, and just one in the free chart.

Figures for most of these games are undisclosed, but Angry Birds is known to have sold 12 million copies across both formats.
