Asus has increased production in preparation for mid-October launch.
Google's Nexus 7 tablet has sold fantastically well, and sales may be about to receive another spike.
The reason for the surge in sales? A 3G version of the popular tablet.
According to a story on modaco.com, a Google insider says that a 3G version will launch in about six weeks, with manufacturer Asus ramping up production in preparation.
There will be no other hardware changes, and the exact launch date and territories are yet to be confirmed, but this is a big deal for the Nexus.
While the device received excellent reviews, there was concern that the tablet would not be a real alternative to the iPad without the option of a 3G model.
