A new Nielsen Cross-Platform Report says US viewers are diversifying their viewing experience, although 98 per cent still watch on a traditional TV set.
The number of homes with an HDTV now stands at 80.2 million, which indicates that the TV screen is still the centre of the experience and that supplementary screens are used in tandem with it.
Nielsen says live and timeshifted TV remains the primary role of the TV, accounting for more than 33 hours per week.
Meanwhile game consoles can now be found in 45 percent of TV homes, an increase of three per cent over last year, and the smartphone is becoming a kind of portable TV.
The 33.5 million mobile owners that now watch video on their phones represents an increase of 35.7 per cent on last year. http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/...-phones/017946
